Nalu & "Andiee" transplanted from Waianae, Hawai'i to Washington State in 1998. They owned and ran Makana 'O Hawaii and Hawaiian Body Benefits for several years until ultimately shutting down due to a location change.
Nalu has always been into carving. From various types of wood and bone to an occasional pencil, chopstick, and toothbrush. He was known by the local Polynesians and Natives for his intricate details and hand-cut, inlaid, wearable art.
Andiee enjoyed all types of craft forms from glass etching and painting to making leis, candles, soaps, lotions, and other bath & body goods. An obsession with earrings turned into an expensive hobby which then turned into a small, home-based, business.
They both enjoy spending time together in the shop designing and creating affordable gift items with a Polynesian flair.
